What Is The Incidence Of Diabetes In Your Country And Why Do You Think That Is So?

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

I’m currently studying the diabetes market in the Philippines vis-a-vis those in other countries. Would like to know how we compare and possible reasons for such differences.

  1. Diabetes is on the rise throughout the world. Many contribute this epidemic to lifestyle changes in diet and level of activity.
As the level of activity goes down (becoming more sedentary) and fast food influences creep around the globe people tend to gain weight. Weight is a major cause of diabetes.
This is particularly true in the Pacific Islands and now into Asia where diabetes is so rampant.
    Hope that helps.

  2. In America, it is because everyone is always on the go. They don’t make time for a healthy diet. Nutrition always takes a back seat to everything else. It doesn’t help there is a fast food restaurant on every corner.
Another problem is people here are always wanting results NOW! They go buy the latest ab machine and don’t understand why they don’t have a razor sharp six-pack. People fail to realize they didn’t get fat overnight but don’t comprehend why they don’t lose it overnight.
They just keep getting bigger and bigger until one day they look in the mirror and say, Well, it’s too late now.

  3. In Australia 257 persons a day are diagnosed with diabetes. From a population of 17 million, and is on the increase
the reason is since i was told i had diabetes i read the food labels and count the carbs and sugars together as carbs turn to blood glucose as well. It is surprising how high modern food in carbs and sugar. Since i have lowered my carb ,sugar intake my blood glucose has gone from 16.0 to around 5.9 and staying low. Cut out take away food as well
and a lot more exercise helps burn of extra sugar

  5. 1. Obesity
    2. Obesity
    3. Did I mention obesity?
I’m living in the US, and as our obesity epidemic rages unchecked, the prevalence of diabetes is constantly climbing. It is likely the same throughout the world, if you want to know why diabetes is more common, just look to the wastelines of the population.
