The International Diabetes Federation recently published findings revealing that in 2007, the country with the largest numbers of people with diabetes is India (41 million), followed by China (40 million), the United States (24 million), Russia (10 million) and Germany (8 million). The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention predict that this Disabling Disease will Double by 2050.

Some other alarming diabetes statistics include the fact that there is one person in the world dying of diabetes every ten seconds. Also, there will be two new diabetic cases in the world being identified every ten seconds. And, what’s worse, these very same diabetes statistics tell us that by the year 2025, there will be as many as seven million new diabetic cases in the world. Another frightening statistic is that More than 5 million of the 24 million Americans who have diabetes don’t know it.

Diabetes is a disease in which your blood glucose, or sugar, levels are too high. Glucose comes from the foods you eat. Insulin is a hormone that helps the glucose get into your cells to give them energy. With Type 1 diabetes, your body does not make insulin. With Type 2 diabetes, the more common type, your body does not make or use insulin well. Without enough insulin, the glucose stays in your blood.

Over time, having too much glucose in your blood can cause serious problems. It can damage your eyes, kidneys, and nerves. Diabetes can also cause heart disease, stroke and even the need to remove a limb. Pregnant women can also get diabetes, called gestational diabetes.

The symptoms can be some or all of the following; blurred vision; feelings of irritability; severe fatigue; unexpected weight loss; feelings of extreme hunger; an excessive thirst; a frequent desire to urinate, often during the night; irritation of the skin in the genital area and the slower than normal healing of superficial wounds.

How Can I Help Myself Get Over Depression And My Other Problems?

I am 15 years old and I don’t feel very confident about myself. I get very nervous in public situations or in large crowds. I just sort of freeze and I don’t know what to say. Like for example, at the start of Grade 9 there was a grade 9 day for all the new students before school started. I was walking into the gym where everyone was but I saw everyone talking, and I knew none of them (different district) so I started sweating and I turned around and walked home. Even in a store, I get nervous of the people around me. I take medication for depression and anxiety but it doesn’t seem to help me, and when I look in the mirror I hate who I look at. Maybe some people will think this is weird because I am a guy and guys are supposed to be tough or whatever, but I just need some advice about what to do to help myself. I don’t want to drag all this into my adult life once Im out of high school so I need to know what to do.
I will appreciate any advice you have for me.

Do you think its a good idea to make teens have the baby think it over and the pregnancy profile vest? I’ve done both of them and I think I benifited from both. Do you think it should be required in school, or just optional? The baby think it over cries every 3 or 4 hours. You have to rock it when its fussy, feed it, change its diaper etc. You also have to support its neck and not shake it. The pregnancy profile vest has a “head” that moves when you walk. It makes you gain 30 pounds (i think). It makes you have to frequently use the restroom. It also had two feet up by your stomach. It is very hot to wear. Do you think these are even teaching teens anything? Any other opinions?

I have recently realized that i am suffering from depression. I am what you might call a health freak, very picky about what I put in me.
