How Long Can Someone Be Hospitalized For Depression?
Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010I have a friend that was sent to the hospital due to depression. I’ve been skipping a lot of school due to mine and they’re starting to call up, my friend says it’s possible they want to have me talk to a social worker to see if I meet the criteria to be hospitalized. I read up on what you could be put in for and I seem to fir the bill. I’m just wondering how long they might keep me in the hospital?

Depends who is paying for it. Full stop. They do not hospitalize people for depression, they hospitalize people for approx 3 days if they are a suicide or homocide risk.
If you have rich parents, then the answer is the same as how long a piece of string is.
Keep in mind that whilst this is fulfilling your attention and sympathy seeking emotions just now, it will leave such a bad mark on your records, that in future it is very possible you won’t be able to do a lot of things like get travel insurance, other kinds of insurance, work with children, buy guns and what not. So good luck with that.

I’ve been in the hospital for depression typically they keep you for 3 days unless you show that you could be a harm to yourself or others.Then they can keep you as long as they want.If you check yourself in you can sign yourself out anytime after the first 24 hours.I live in the U.S. In florida the laws might be different anywhere else.But I have been to the hospital three times and not on my own.3 days are all they ever kept me.If you behave your self and get along with well with others they will let you out in 3 days.Act as if everything is fine that you aren’t sad or cry or anything like that.Don’t cause arguments eat all your food and you’ll be fine be back home in 3 days.

if you go by yourself. like if you check yourself in thats how long they keep you
then you can decide from there.
if someone else checks you in your screwwed they can keep you forever
