Best Fitness / Exercise Routine?
Saturday, January 9th, 2010Im a bit over weight ( about 30 pounds more than i would like) but i would like to loose weight and build muscles…
My schedule now fits where i can plan to exercise up to 5 times a week (weekdays). What would be the best routine? Morning times, M,W,F weights Tues,Thurs running? I have no clue so any help or advice on losing weight and gaining muscles would help greatly!!
Is exercising in the morning good? Should i loose the weight first and build muscles later or try and lose the weight while building muscles?

Working out in the morning is said to be beneficial because it boosts metabolism and allows fat to be burned throughout the day. However, there is still debate upon whether there is enough of a benefit to even matter. If you do workout in the morning though, be sure to get an adequate breakfast as a pre-workout meal.
You can lose weight and build muscle at the same time. In regards to weight loss, any form of cardio preformed at a higher intensity will drop your body fat fast and effectively. Given the nature of such a rigorous exercise, the exercise itself is broken up into intervals, giving it the name “high intensity interval training.” Interval training routines are usually taught in the more recent and proven fitness programs.
The benefits behind a higher intensity workout make such a routine much more powerful than a traditional low intensity workout. It is known to boost metabolism and increase the maximum amount of oxygen your body can take in during a workout. Both these elements will greatly aid fat loss.
It is important not to neglect your diet though, as it is a major component in the weight loss process. If you have enough dedication, it is best to eat smaller meals more frequently throughout the day. This will land you at five or six small meals a day. The key in diet is lean protein. Almost every meal should contain some source of lean protein. Due to the fact that protein requires much more energy to digest than carbohydrates, this will significantly increase your metabolism. In addition, make sure to cut out any soft drinks in your diet and replace it with water. Drinking a lot of water is also a great way to assist you in your weight loss goals.
If you stick to a legitimate fitness routine then you will without a doubt drop the weight and build muscle. Just remember that this will take a lot of dedication, but you will eventually reach your goal. if i were you i would concentrate on losing the weight first. i would run all five times a week. allow time for a warm up and do a core/strength routine before you run (as many sets of different kinds of sit ups and push-ups as you can do.) then run for as long and as hard as you can. run for at least 40 min when you start. if you cant run for 40 min straight then run different intervals like 5 min run 1 min walking, and gradually build up your running time and your speed. good luck!!!
P.S. running in the morning is fine. studies show that if you run before breakfast that you will burn more calories. however, if you are running slower because you are hungry you are hurting yourself so see which one of those works better for you.

Mixing up weights with cardio is great. The time of day does not really matter–whatever works best for you and when you have the most energy. You can even try to do two shorter workouts in one day.
In order to get results, you must eat healthier too. Check out the guide below for links to eating healthier. They are recipes and guides to help you for losing weight and building muscle. Good luck!
